TREATMENTS OFFERED
Ayurvedic Purification Practices:
*Note: A constitutional assessment is completed and evaluated at the first session. All Ayurvedic treatments begin with a face, head, neck and shoulder massage and end with a hand and foot massage.
Shirodhara
This treatment can best be described as a mind-melting experience. A warm flow of oil is applied to the forehead and “third eye.” The oil floats down the forehead and through the hair, taking with it any unwanted thoughts, tensions and anxieties. Shirodhara helps to relax the nervous system, calm the mind, and balance the 3 Ayurvedic constitutions, (doshas). When the mind is calm, more nutrients, life energy and oxygen can reach the brain. Regular treatments are said to increase blood circulation to the brain, improve memory, nourish the hair and scalp, encourage a sound sleep and calm the body and mind.
Akshitarpana
Imagine a spa treatment for your eyes where your eyes are gently and lovingly nurtured in a bath of warm golden liquid. This treatment involves the processof holding a healing oil, called ghee, in the eye orbit. This therapy imporves the eyesight, heals stiffness, pain, redness and roughness around the eyes. It strengthens the vision and protects the eys again the sharp rays of the sun. Those who spend long hours in front of the computer benefit greatly from this soothing treatment. Akshitarpana is also very helpful for those with more serious eye conditions, such as glaucoma, ulcerated cornea, or styes. A great treatment for reducing excess Pitta, (heat), in the body.
Karna Purana
This is a soothing sinus relief and ear cleansing treatment that will open your ears to the sweet tones of life. The ears are massaged and warm oil drops are applied into the ear canal. Karna Purana reduces ear itching, dryness, rids the ears of excess wax and calms ringing in the ears.
$ 60 per 1 hr session
The breath is the key to vibrant health and deep relaxation. This treatment frees the nasal passages and sinuses from congestion and allows you to breathe fully…those expansive belly breaths. Your session begins with a salt water sinus cleanse using a neti pot. After this, warm herbalized oil is applied into the nasal passages. Sometimes a herbal steam is also included, when there is deep congestion. Nasya relieves pressure in the head and sinuses, increases vitality, clears the mind and combats colds, sinusitis and excess kapha dosha.
Relaxation and Subtle Energy Work:
Relaxation and Breath Work Techniques
This is the session where you learn the tools for self-healing and take them home to apply them in your daily life! The most simple, easiest way to achieve deep relaxation is to breath properly. As babies, we naturally do this well…babies breath from their bellies. When we grow-up and encounter challenges in life, we respond by holding the breath and tensing the body. Our breath cannot flow adequately and we become chest breathers. This results in very little prana, (life force energy), being carried to our brains and the cells in our bodies. We end up feeling tired and even depressed or anxious. In a breath work and relaxation session, you will learn the “natural breath,” and other breath and relaxation tools to well equip you to handle any of life’s chaotic moments with a smile.
Relaxation Massage and Subtle Energy Healing
This nurturing combination surely will have you relaxing deeply into your inner bliss. Warm, sometimes scented, oil suited to your unique constitution is applied to your body with a gentle, loving touch. This is the perfect treatment for someone who has anxiety, is stressed, over-worked and generally is looking to be nurtured and to forget about their busy life for an hour. Subtle energy healing helps to clear the electromagnetic field surrounding your body from the build-up of it’s daily bombardment from computer usage, fluorescent lighting, cell phones and the general pulse of the city. You will feel calmer in mind and emotions and more balanced.
COUNSELING SERVICES:
Satkiana combines an eclectic combination of offerings drawn from the wisdom of Ayurveda, Bioenergetics, Dream Work, Shamanism, Yoga and Holistic Psychotherapy. Both 1-1 sessions and group classes involve a combination of counselling and teaching to address your unique requirements. Classes work on all levels of your being and provide you with simple, practical tools for greater self-awareness and self-rejuvenation. Tools taught will include ayurvedic nutrition, breath work, meditation, yoga, and inner anatomy. You will benefit as you develop a stronger nervous system, experience a gentle detoxification, and greatly reduce stress as you learn to quiet the mind.
